Warning: Game of Thrones spoilers ahead!
It feels like it has been a lifetime since Jon Snow’s true lineage was confirmed at the end of season seven, but we still have a long way to go until we find out who will claim the Iron Throne once and for all.
As well as giving our guests the inside track on our , we also regularly discuss theories and rumours about the upcoming final series. With the filming of series eight finished and going through the lengthy editing process, there are numerous rumours flying around – some believable and some not so believable.
So, with that in mind, we have listed some of our favourite rumours surrounding the final instalment of the hit series.
Daenerys and Tyrion
Yes, you read that right. There are rumours that series eight will see something of a love triangle between Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister. We saw Daenerys and Jon get rather close with each other last season, just as we found out that the lovers are in fact related – surely it couldn’t possibly get any more complicated?
Well, following an who portrays Tyrion, there is speculation that the fan favourite could potentially confess his love for the Mother of Dragons. Would there be such a twist in the final series? We have witnessed more shocking events, after all!
Arya Kills Cersei
We have seen villains such as Joffrey Baratheon and Petyr Baelish meet a sticky end that was met with a fist pump by the watching audience, but the much-loathed Cersei Lannister still manages to survive. She has suffered, without a shadow of a doubt, but the audience won’t feel that justice has truly been served until the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms joins Joffrey and Baelish on the list of those who didn’t survive.
If some rumours are to be believed, then the television audience will be delighted. Arya Stark, who has Cersei on her own list, could be the one to kill the queen in beautifully ironic circumstances. As one theory goes, it won’t be Arya’s face that Cersei will see. Instead, the last face Cersei will see will be that of her brother and lover Jaime Lannister, with Arya wearing the Kingslayer’s face as she brings an end to Cersei’s story.
There was a rumour that, once the cast had read the script, each copy would be deleted automatically. Funnily enough, this isn’t actually a rumour anymore after Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) actually
Turner confirmed that the cast would be given 24 hours to learn lines and rehearse before shooting the following day. Once the time was up, the script was gone forever. That’s one way to ensure there are no leaks!
